Michael Vance
Saxophone, Clarinet, Piano, Bass Clarinet
A native of Vancouver, Washington, Michael Vance earned a Bachelor of Music Degree in Saxophone Performance and Pedagogy from Brigham Young University and a Master of Music Degree in Jazz Studies from Indiana University, where he was an Associate Instructor. Vance has worked with numerous professional ensembles, including the Jimmy Dorsey Jazz Orchestra, the Guy Lombardo Jazz Orchestra, the Gene Krupa Big Band, the David Baker Jazz Quintet, the Utah Symphony and the Four Tops. Michael has also performed with Randy Travis, Kenny Loggins, Toni Tenille, Bob Mintzer, James Moody, Dick Oatts, Chris Potter and Randy Brecker, to name a few.
Vance served for 21 years in the The United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own,” the premiere musical organization of the U.S. Army. He has performed for various dignitaries and government leaders, including Presidents George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Donald Trump, Joe Biden, Prince Charles and Pope Francis.
Mike teaches saxophone, clarinet and piano, as well as jazz improvisation for all instruments and vocals.
