Doorstep Music Lessons and Jazz Outreach Initiative Partner to Expand Access to Music Education for Underserved Youth

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 30, 2025
Las Vegas, NV — Doorstep Music Lessons is proud to announce a groundbreaking partnership with the Jazz Outreach Initiative (JOI) to enhance JOI’s acclaimed Jazz Routes program, which provides free instruments and one year of donor-sponsored private music lessons to economically disadvantaged students in Southern Nevada.
Founded in 2021, Jazz Routes is the only known program of its kind to pair instrument donations with ongoing music instruction—an approach that has changed the lives of countless children across the Las Vegas valley. With private music lessons averaging $1,800 per year, the cost of learning an instrument remains a major barrier for many families—even when the instrument itself is free. This partnership helps eliminate that obstacle.
“Too many of these kids couldn’t get to their lessons,” said JOI Executive Director Donny Thompson. “The same financial challenges that qualified them for Jazz Routes were also preventing them from traveling to lesson locations. Doorstep Music Lessons removes that barrier by sending qualified teachers directly to the students’ homes.”
Doorstep Music Lessons, Nevada’s largest in-home music school, was founded by musicians Arianna Villano and Sam Villano in 2023 and has since delivered more than 15,000 lessons across the state. Recognized by the Mayor of Las Vegas and the Las Vegas City Council, the program emphasizes high-quality instruction, regular student progress check-ins, and public recitals—all key components that support JOI’s commitment to measurable impact.
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with the Jazz Outreach Initiative,” said Arianna Villano, Co-founder of Doorstep Music Lessons. “Our mission is to remove barriers to music education, foster a lifelong love of music, and be a strong community partner. This collaboration allows us to do exactly that.”
Through this partnership, Doorstep Music Lessons created a customized enrollment system exclusively for Jazz Routes students, streamlining the process of matching students with the right teacher. The company’s “Love Your Teacher” guarantee ensures that students are always paired with an instructor who fits their learning style and goals.
As part of the partnership’s public launch, a Jazz Routes student from Monaco Middle School will receive a drum set and a year of free lessons at a special free community concert on Friday, May 9 at Centennial Hills Park Amphitheater. Sponsored by the City of Las Vegas and Ward 6 Councilwoman Nancy Brune, the event will feature the Jazz Vegas Orchestra with guest vocalist Naomi Mauro in a festive "Concert Underneath the Stars."
