Gentry Wessman is a classically trained mezzo-soprano who recently graduated with her Bachelors of Music in Vocal Performance from Texas State University in 2024. Gentry has been a voice teacher since 2023, and has experience teaching classical and musical theater styled singing to all ages.

As an opera singer, Gentry’s professional credits include Madame Butterfly, Verdi’s Requiem, Carmen, Le pêcheurs de perles, and Sweeney Todd with the Austin Opera chorus, as well as Madame Butterfly with the Opera San Antonio chorus. While at Texas State, she performed as “Baba” in The Medium, “Frederic” in The Pirates of Penzance, and “Signora Naccarelli” in The Light in the Piazza. Gentry made her Italian debut as “Signora Infermiera” in Suor Angelica and “Dame Quickly” in Falstaff. Gentry was a finalist in the 2023 TEXOMA NATS competition as well as a finalist in the 2022 and 2023 Texas State Aria and Concerto Competition.

In Gentry’s voice studio, every student will be able to make music that they are proud of. Gentry strives to make an inclusive studio space and to implement her knowledge of vocal pedagogy and performance technique to help her students thrive, regardless of age or experience.

Teaching and performing aside, Gentry loves to swim, explore the outdoors, and even put on stand up routines… alone in her room. She is a candidate for her Masters of Music in Opera Performance at Arizona State University and is so excited to be joining the Doorstep Music Lessons team!
